Illinois’ pension crisis means we taxpayers have to settle for leftovers.

I paid a lot more in taxes this year than I did last year, yet state services are being cut and facilities are being closed. The state’s unfunded obligation for generous worker pensions, like free health care and retirement at age 50, siphons billions away from the state priorities I care about, like education.

Furthermore, as you know our state is in danger of further bond rating downgrades if we do not get our pension spending under control. It’s time we reform state employee pensions so they are fair and affordable through reforms such as raising the retirement age, eliminating compounding COLA’s and asking employees to contribute more to their pensions. These benefits are still more generous than the retirement benefits granted to me and my private sector colleagues.

Now is the time for you as our elected state leader to show leadership and stand up to restore Illinois’ fiscal health. Pension reform is an essential element in any plan to get our state’s finances back on track.

Please support pension reform, now, before the legislative session adjourns and help steer Illinois away from further financial crisis.

Re: HR1206: We Need Your Support!

Dear Representative Walsh:

Dear Representative

I am writing as one of your constituents to thank you for your cosponsorship of H.R. 1206, the Access to Professional Health Insurance Advisors Act of 2011.

By cosponsoring H.R. 1206 demonstrate that you want to help preserve jobs as well as preserve access to professional advice, existing cost‑saving practices in current health insurance markets and maintenance of an important and often life‑saving “convenience” for small businesses and individual consumers ‑ their independent agent/broker.

Your cosponsorship and assistance in passage will help prevent additional harmful effects on American insurance consumers like those in our state.

As a constituent, I thank you for your supporting myself and my indusrty.
